  • Pommie Cab Mk1

Take a look & see what you thinkin
    40K Miles in 23 years
As per previous would be interested in heads up on the club rego or
Info re compliance-Rear seatbelt bar ie: is the part available ?-cost etc?
Might be interested in selling but would also like to enjoy & preserve the car & maybe enjoy the VW Club bit.
    What do you think ?

That's mint!! Looks like something out of GTA Vice City! It's probably about as 80's as it is possible to be. Love the U.K plates too, makes me homesick. My old man had an A reg Golf Driver. Deffo worth the wait for the pics.

Ah man don't sell it, you'll never get what it's worth and it's gotta have some serious sentimental value surely?

You have to get this registered. It's way too good to leave in the garage.

Send a PM to gldgti. He's a moderator on this forum and lives at Gosford. He's also a Cabby nut and can tell you what you need to do to get NSW rego.

If you want to get him talking for hours ask him about the Cabby he converted to turbo diesel.

            Cheers

            Paul

Do some ringing around for your Engineer, and make sure they know what there talking about, for the compliance. When mine was imported the previous owner accepted what the Engineer told him about the rear lap belts being illegal. So it was registered as a 2 seater.

Having done a 2 min search on Google. its a load of tosh. So know I have the great task of sorting it out.

Good luck and get it on the road, it deserves it.

                    Good point
I will be hopefully meeting up with gldgti soon so will ask that very question
                    ta for all comments
The vehicle has a few issue ie new tyres although they all look fine & legal I would not feel safe on rubber thats 25 years young
A new radiator (Brian at Galston) if hes still there ?
                    A good tune up
And of course what ever is required re compliance
Trouble is until its registered etc I will have to trailer it anywhere it needs to be

NSW does have club scheme which is currently in trial period to potentially have 'free use' days permanently added.
Brian is still at Galston, spoke to him yesterday. FYI his mobile doesn't have great reception at his current location.
You can get unregistered permits which allow movement of unregistered cars.

                      Nice car btw

a passenger car manufactured after 1/7/1976 must have child restraint anchorages for each rear seat position & these must comply to ADR 5/
So as far as I can tell Lap belts are Illegal in the outer rear seating of my cab ?????? Yes/No
As for registering it as a 2 seater try explaining that to a highway cop who has had a bad day "ohh no problems sir off you go" yeah right

                          Buggered that up
lost the first part of reply but basically it states on Roads & maritime 12/8/2014
ANY car manufactured after 1/1/1971 must have LAP-SASH belts on the outer rear seating positions
the centre seat (if applicable) may have a lap belt

If you need any particular parts - I have a heap of Australian cabriolet stuff, should you need it for compliance etc.
