  • increasing power to the horn?

    I picked up a dual horn from a Seat Cordoba, i think, a while ago and I've put it in but it doesn't always work properly. I know they work, because when i connect them straight to the battery they work fine. Is there a way to increase the power that is going to the horn?

    A relay should do the trick.

        would i be asking to much for you to just make a small diagram showing me how to wire it up?
        I'm not all that great when i comes to relays.

          You don't need a PhD degree in physic to understand how to wire up a relay.

          Relay # 30 -> battery +ve
          Relay # 85 -> ground
          Cut your horn +ve and wire it to Relay # 86
          Relay # 87 -> horn +ve input

          FAQ: RELAYS; how they work and how to wire it up...

            Yeah, plenty of pics already on line.

            I'd just connect the two wires that run to your stock horn and connect them to the realy coil on 85 and 86.

            30 goes to battery.

            87 goes to one side of the horn. Earth the other side of the horn.

            There's a couple of different ways to do it.

            ANother issue can be the contacts behind the steering wheel. You might need a new switch or contact ring.

                On the topic of relays, has anyone added a relay to the wiper motor with any success?

                  If not, is there a way to make it rain slower?

                    You can get nasal spray for this sort of problem

                      Ah the joys of Mk 1 horns and wipers (which seem to work properly only when they want to). I found that my horn didn't work if the headlights were on, and the wipers had two speeds - slow and glacial. The things I won't miss when my Mk1 goes.

                      (Oh, and I do have a PhD (not in physics mind you) but I couldn't wire up a relay to save myself!)
