      • Hey George wondering is this the stuff you used for under the car? If so, did you just prime than apply the stuff with a brush? Thanks dude!

Yep, did the steps thst you mentioned.

But on second thought I may re do the bottom. I am yet to get under and check, but I think in summer the heat makes it melt.it works as a great sealer, and water proofer but I would do some more research into it. Perhaps a top cost over it would help to a degree.

            • Hello hello.

It's been a while since an update has been posted. I've been spending a lot of time on my a new ride I picked up and mostly on the cabby getting it reliable for summer cruises I've touched the swallowtail here and there, trying to perfect the engine bay - however all for nothing.

I'm a huge Honda fan, well Nissan and Toyota fan too actually. But there's something about Honda motors thst make me lose my mind. I'm currently running the b18c from a integra type r in my Honda daily, and it's an AMAZING motor. So talking with a few buddies and doing a ton of research ..... I have come to the following conclusion. I'm scrapping the idea of a boring 8v and will be running a K20a2 from one of the most modern Type r civics. It will be running a cable shift 6 speed LSD box too and most likely on ITBs. This means thst my bay will once again undergo a change and under construction.

I know there is a big hate on Hondas from the vw purists, especially in u.s and Europe - but there is no other company that make over 240hp from an n/a 2.0 my current type r motor makes 147kw at the flywheel ......... From a 1.8??? So I entice the hate or criticism haha. But do yourselves a favour, feel a k20. The torque is unreal and the power is through the roof. Coupled with a close 6 speed and a light body the little golf would be amazing.

On the other hand there is some bad news. My old man is just about to begin re developing our block, which means my garage has to go, which ultimately means the golf has to be on complete hold. I'm going to look for a storage where I can work on it, but we'll see. Also the costs of a motor and gearbox is somewhere around 5k so funds will be tight haha

Here's some pics of a crazy American who's have actually pulled it off..... Hats off to them!

Having said this, and my still ongoing plan to air ride the golf is going to cost a ton, but finishing this car is more of a life goal rather than short term.

Thoughts on getting it engineered and legal though? :S

                        • That's a very good question dude. I may get the air ride and the motor engineered. Will be speaking to an engineer soon to see what the pre requisites are and take it from there.

Register it as a street rod? How do all the crazy hot rods get away with it.... Very curious actually.

                          • It's a popular engine option in classic minis so it makes sense in a mk1.
Although I think you're having a laugh with the power and torque comment, it's all relative and it would be fun in a lighter shell.

There's something along these lines (but a bit more extreme) happening on speed hunters at the moment.
