  • 1977 mk1 gls race/restore

here's my mk1 gls, this is the second timr ive owned this car, after seeing it up for sale i decided to buy it back now it's getting some much needed love and attention . time to give her a new lease of life !

15x8 xx2r's the backs look great but i think i may need to get 15x7's for the front

goes any one know what the max size and offset 15" rim can be run under stock gaurds ?

more to your concern should be tyre size.

You can run a 15x8 on the front of a mk 1, with the right camber, tyre size and ride height.

What is your current set up? (suspension, tyres size, and offest?)

hey man the xxr's are 15x8 0 offset , suspension was done long ago with fairly stiff kmac rear coilovers non hight ajustable and lowered kings in the front but this will all be comming out soon replaced with a set of bilstein coilovers it's also got nuspeed sway bars ...

            8 ET0, isn't a good start especially on the front of a mk 1.

If you wanted it really low, you'd have to go a really skinny tyre and a fair bit of camber. Wouldn't be safe or look good.

But if you're more concerned about performance, lower it tilll it rubs, then wind it up half an inch.

Having those size tyres (195/50 I'm guessing?) isn't going to help once you lower it more. (especially on such an aggressive offset)

15x7 ET0 will sit a good 20mm out from the arch.

                It's your choice.

You could probably get wheels that fit, and get semi slicks, sway bars and good suspension, and you'll be laughing.

                        Correct, Correct, and Correct again.

One of my favourite mk 1's.
