aftermarket tacho

did a search but didnt see anything.
my 1980 gld obviously dosnt have a tacho, can u buy an aftermarket on and fit it? whats involved?
obviously something would need to be fitted to the gearbox as a sender?
is this often done?

search harder.

there is a mod that involves getting a feed from the alternator. And then fitting a petrol tacho. Search on google if you need.
hiho wrote up a few things on it a while back, that might help your search.

realistically, you don't need a tacho for a GLD. I was going to put one in mine, but never bothered as it never really needed it. Plus then you get to make jokes about how slow it is, and needing a clock to time it's performa
nce.

Actually I didn't even have to search. It's in the sticky at the top of the MK1 section.

I only did it cos Ayden promised me a sticky.

Tacho is still going strong and will be very useful if you intend to do any modifications to the governor. I have since added a glow plug light in the form of an LED.
