Nice little project you have dude! Welcome to the clan.

Slammed Distribution are local to you and are the Australian importers for Hot Tuning. If you want to go for that stuff, deal with them.. I've seen it too many times where people have imported themselves and ended up with the wrong stuff, with no support if they have a problem.

If you want to spend the extra money, I can offer you Weitec suspension.

Definitely check Mik's FS thread for accessories. Some of his stuff is actually in my posession at the moment and I can vouch for the accuracy of his descriptions.

Nah the engine didnt wind over. The stereo cut out and when I had the lights on they went off as well. Ive got a feeling it might be the starter, my friend was tapping it as I turned the key but she refused to crank. To be honest, I couldnt even hear if the starter was clicking as the stereo has an amp and subs hooked up (oh dear), but my mate reckons he could hear it click.

Once its running and regoed, paint and suspension will be priority, thanks for the heads up Preen59

Why not clutch start it just to get it going?

I want to turn the engine over by hand first just in case it is seized, and if it isnt, and the starter is still being a pain, kicking will be the only option

Well we tried to turn the motor over on the weekend but she wouldnt budge!! I was starting to worry the engine might have been seized, but after a little bit of WD40 and some really thin oil in the cylinders, she finally spun freely again. Cranking is working fine, but she wont start now. I'd say its because the plugs would be awfully wet + the fuel would be ridiculously stale, so tomorrow it seems a trip to Repco shall be in order. Wish me luck!!

                Hahaha. So subtle, Paul.

New plugs would be a good start first. Then try a bit of fresh fuel straight down the carbie dude. Not a lot, just a splash and then crank it over to see if it fires.

If an engine has fuel, spark (at the right time) and compression it will fire. It has to (it might run like ****, but it'll run). It's that simple.

S**t, you poor bastard! And now you've got a MK1.

At least the only way you can go is up.

Ha Ha, while the injection never gave me problems (I seriously loved the reliability) the electricals were all over the place.

I put new plugs in, new oil, new filter etc etc. Still wouldnt crank, so Ive emptied the fuel tank, ready for a new fuel filter and fresh dose of petrol for tomorrow. As for the coil, the spark straight from the coil to a ground was very VERY small, I was expecting a bit more, oomph. Is that normal or am I expecting too much?

Ha, this is my method for getting MK1's to work ok.

On a car not working very well, take all componenets that are replaceable, replace.
After spending much money on this, and the car not working very well still, curse.
Months down the track you isolate your problem to degraded 35 year old wiring.

But seriously, the coil might need replacement if the spark is poor, or the contacts in the dizzy cap may be fouled or the rotor on the way out (short).
