  • Cylinder Hone size

    Is a 4-1/8" (105mm) Flex-hone appropriate for a stock 1.8 KR (87.5mm bore I believe)?

From my searching on the web I found that the maximum Hone size is 1/2" larger than the bore, so I may have been a little optimistic purchasing one that is 1/8" over this..

What is the best amount the hone should be larger than the bore?

I'm pretty sure the KR bore is about 81mm... which makes your 105mm hone 24mm bigger.

i'm not sure if thats too big. I would have said go ahead if the bore was actually 87.5mm, but pretty sure its about 81mm. hope that helps.

I just got home and roughly measured it then, and you're right its closed to 81mm.. Not a problem, I can return the hone, But what size do I buy?

Flexi hone I use is about 3 3/4 " Dia, red tell tale for grit grade ( from a rusty memory ) Use light or honing oil ( NOT kero or any solvent based lube ) Make sure you THOROUGHLY clean the block after, should be able to wipe the bore with a clean lint free rag and have no residue whatsoever on it.
