i was hoping to just chuck the carbs on and flog the absolute F**K out of it around my usuall stomping grounds, but i must wait breifly as there is always more to be done.

its a twin throat, its runs on the 32mm on small throttle openings for economy, then when you give it s**t the 36 opens aswell

gotta get my pinkage sorted, got some parts, just gotta scratch my head and fiddle and get it right and working sweet... OHH that sound.

32/36 DGAV Pre Pollution 2L off a escort fitted to a TS Passat intake.

              Same as this

Should work O.K. for a daily beater.

Never know, I might just fit all the CIS gear & ported intake out of my old crapper tank to it. Heap's better.
Just have to remove it from the GTI. Maybe once the other engine goes in.

The thought of a turbo'd straight gas setup has crossed my mind before too.

as for fuel, there are plenty of things that will run internal combustion engines for years to come

                    stick with the carb Tim

I just got myself a TS manifold and 32/36 webber, but I won't be able to get it on the little beastie until I get back from leave.

Does anyone know what the power gains (kW) are over the standard carb? (as a ball-park gustimate)

I've been told it's well worth it (as well as glowing reports from this forum)

Also, what do people recommend? A full metal & paper air filter set-up? or one of those foam socks? Which is better (as I do not have either at the moment)

I finally got to introduce the webers to the golf engine. Bloody stacks are too long (D'oh!) and I may have to look at some with a 45degree bend to point them at something else other than the firewall (I have chopped a nice hole into the raintray especially for them to breath through).
My main mistake was overestimating the angle that the 40s would sit at in relation to the engine in the bay. Mr Golf being east-west the carbs are at the back of the engine, going by the factory prepped cars I hoped to copy their technique of finding some fresh air for the ITBs through the raintray, but I now see the ITBs are at a much sharper angle than the webers - bummer!

now that's some very cool old skool mechanical injection.

Look's like a hilborn or kinsler setup without the mechanical pump drive off the engine.

Would love to know more about this setup. Please post up if anyone has any.

Pissa. Has the same sort of breather setup as my old beast.

What type of intake manifold are you running?
