You weld a solid bar in place of the shocks and springs, truly gangster and you can shatter sumps and your back.... All the Takumi KE70 drivers do it

I'm wanting to lower it about 4 or 5 inches.
      It's mostly for looks.

Just a question if coil overs are illegal will it be hard for me to get RWC?

Keeping in mind that I'm in tassie.

just keep some stock suspension aside for if you get a defect.

            I'm in Hobart.
Is there any place here that will install coilovers for me?
I'm quite mechanically minded but suspension stuff has always eluded me.

Another point is that my car came with a set of brand new front shocks.
I havnt put them in yet so I might sell them, what's the going rate on a pair of those?

            Cheers guys.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Do it yourself. Excluding wheel bolts, it's 12 bolts/nuts to undo, then do up.

First 'mechanical' thing I ever did was install coilovers and even then i thought it was easy peasy.

Is there anything else you need apart from the coilovers?
Meaning like, when i see the pic of the coilovers, they dont come with the strut tops. So obviously im guessing you use your existing ones. However do you have to mod it at all, or straight fit?

probably a good time to get new strut tops anyways, as your old ones are probably shagged. all the usual vw spares/mechanics should have them

On that note, how long are replacement ones supposed to last? I have 'Febi' ones from GAP and metal is already a good 6-7mm above the rubber after about 1500k's.

Hey man, I'm sure you will be able to put them in yourself. Heck, I did it, and I'm retarded when it comes to cars. If u buy some let me know and I'll come down and help you put em in. I'm always in Hobart

This usually happens once the rubber settles and doesn't necessarily mean they're worn. They'll usually only last about 10-20k on a heavily lowered car, though. Mk1s have very limited suspension travel in the front end.

                            On the topic of coilovers,

Quick question guys. I have the option of some 'performance3000' brand, or i can go 'JOM' from dubmonkeyz. Which one would be the better?
