  • Lowering question

I was looking through some other build threads and realised that pretty much the first thing everyone does is lower their car.

What is the easiest and simplest was of lowering a mk1 golf?

^What he said^ Raceland, Hottuning, JOM, etc...
Lowering springs will probably end up costing the same, plus the Mk1 struts have probably had it.

Keeping in mind adjustable coilovers aren't street legal. No one really cares about that though.

If you own an angle grinder there's cheaper ways of lowering your Golf.

Why is spring cutting such blasphemy? It's cheap and if done right pretty effective

The price that cheap coilovers are, I couldn't be bothered cutting springs imo.

Because people cut them in half to slam the car... so the spring is not held captive.
Ive cut one coil off one of my old cars, didnt drop it much, but nt 4x4 mode any more. and the spring was still captive. in my opinion it was fine

                  But for slamage, get coilovers

The first question is really how far are you wanting to lower it and for what purpose? Race, looks, other?
