I like the contrast of painting those rims black.
Black centre in a shiny/white rim, in a black tyre on a white(ish) car.
    The German look

      Thanks Steph/Ryan.

I totally agree Steph, at the end of the day I'll do what I want! I am always interested to hear peoples opinion. If they are constructive and offer an alternative!!

How many Deutschmarks went into that superfine Golf with the wire rims and 20V turbo. Scheiße.

Was originally owner-built using a Mk4 1.8T anniversary 6spd donor car (I believe it was sold on, then some goose fitted the ugly wheels that belong on an MG Midget). It was featured in the Golf+ plus around 6yrs ago, so you could order the back issue if you wanted to dig around. It was one of the first Mk1s around to get a 6spd OE gearbox.

The car was at GTI International when I was there a couple of years ago - IIRC, it's actually black with a midnight purple pearl, despite looking like a purple base coat. Very nice car (until the wheel change came along!).

                    P.S. It's a UK-built car too

if you go with the wire wheels get the reverse dish for the added poke. i like doing something different and couldn't give a rats ass what people think. i like wire wheels, having grown up in canada i've seen them on plenty and they always seem to look good. cleaning wouldn't be a problem as long as you get a good cleaner and stay on top of them. YOUR ride so you might as well enjoy it.

I reckon if you've got some cash
Get a set of SSR MK1's and re drill them to 4x100. I reckon they will look apsolutely sick on a mk1, and its never been done before

get smaller tyres and lower your car as is and it will look 1000000000000000000000000000 times better. don't need new wheels.
