I've always liked Superlites, a small wheel on a small car
I know its not on a Golfy, but you get an idea.

I have considered superlites in the past.. due to their availability in such a huge range of sizes and offsets.. but i dunno.. they seem sooo generic.. not neccessarily for golfs but cars getting round these days.. and meshies are a definate no go for me.. i hate how over used they are. am cosidering just painting the centres black on the wheels i've already got.. could be a nice look.. and less balloony tyres.2012 Ford Focus - Panther Black

Josh dear, do whatever you want! You have to drive the car
I like the wheels on it - but if you don't like what is on there at the moment and like wire wheels, put them on instead I think it is a different idea and would love to see a MK1 sporting a set of wire wheels.
Just don't go designing "your" car based on what other people think. Make your car a reflection of you - whether it means you paint your car pink and have purple wheels, so be itIf you're happy with it, then deep down we are all happy, ok?
I'm going to the pub... I may be some time...
