yea Me niether, they're a bit odd though huh? My money was on either scirrocco mk 1 or jetta mk 1. But I'm unsure. the thread I stole the pics from was in another language...:S

I like rat style mk1's with the rust etc, but in practice it's not really viable. If it's genuine rust it ain't gonna last forever..

Like Preeny said, if they were real, they wouldnt be a long term proposition. So how do they get the weathered and oxidised look then?

I think it is real rust in most cases. Most of the cars i've seen have real rust. I'd rather bare metal clear coated than rust. I've seen a few rat rods done that way and it's really something to admire.
