      • I'm buying a mk1 golf this weekend, going down the 1.8T path, it'll be my project over the next year.

Can't wait to start a thread like this..

          • Well I'm not dead....

Uni has owned all my free time as of late.

3 month projects always turn out to take a year haha...

I'll dig up some photos of where it was at when I last touched it.

Hopefully there is some Christmas cruise happening that I can attend lol.

            • Ok I'll try to pick up this thread where I left it.

Decided to try my hand at making a new roof lining. I used what was left of the old one as a template and made it a little longer on the edges in case I had to tweak it. I went with a blue/grey colour vinyl.

Test fitted the new lining and it was a pretty snug first attempt. These photos are the best I could get at the time. The shadows throw up a few odd looking areas but in real life it's nice and tight. I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

Front window was cleaned up and put back in. I mentioned before that it had previously been replaced so my seal was still in good condition. It went in easy.

Back to the booth for a little more paint. I made a rookie error by hanging the bonnet the way I did. Because it was inverted slightly, gravity had something to say and when I hit it with the base coat I was left with a nice sag the whole length of the bonnet.

I was raging at the time but re-painted it and it's now fine as can see below.

I put the window back in the hatch and bolted it back on to the car. The hatch seal never came with the car so I was left to find one for myself. I couldn't be bothered waiting for one off the Internet so I trekked down to 'Century foam and rubber' and they had something that works perfect.

It doesn't leak and has that nice new car door suction feel when I close it so I know it'll be fine.

                          Great build so far!!!

My roof lining is shot and im thinking of doing the same. Any chance you have further detailed pictures of how it wraps around near the boot seal??
