          Small update for today..

Started to extend the flares. Some people may have other ways of doing this but this is how I went about it. A free option that I've found to work well in the past.

I started by marking small sections where I was going to make a cut with the grinder. They didn't have to be measured articulately just close enough cuts so the flare doesn't turn into a octagon shape haha.

Next I started to pull out the cut piece to achieve a relatively flush line from the existing flare. You can also see how I folded the inner piece onto itself (I hope that makes sense). Once it's finished this will add to the overall strength and ensure the wheel wont rub on anything.

All pulled out and even..ish. I had to tweak the bottoms of each flare so there wasn't an obvious step out.

Welded up and then ground down smooth.

Added some body filler and now I just have to smooth it out. You can see from this photo how they are coming along. There is still a few hours needed to fill all the little holes and get the shape flowing perfect.

As seen in some other pictures my dash was really badly cracked. I knew there was no way to repair it in it's current state So I'm taking another approach. The coating has come off in the consistency of an egg shell. I poked a few areas with a screwdriver and from there it literally pealed off. That's all I have done so far but I do have a few tricks up my sleeve. I know I could pay someone to fix it all up but where's the fun in that

Also got TWO of these in the mail. This is the result of living in a suburb saturated by retired old folk. The fact they can hear at all astounds me. People wont even come and talk to you about it first is what grinds my gears.

          I was Allegedly doing this.

P.S Wont get another chance to work on the car until Sunday NEXT week (It's torture) as I have to entertain some interstate family... So until then...

            Good luck with the dashboard.
Mine has been recovered. I'm not totally sure, but I assume the cracks were just ground-down and filled, then the whole thing recovered and painted. Is it sagged at all? I'll pm you a few pictures of what I'll be doing soon to combat the sag.

Nice work dude. I'll be interested to see how it comes out..

Apparently you can make as much noise as you like up until 6pm.

Some people have little else to do.....

Thanks for the PM Jace. The support looks like a good idea. My dash however is warped in like 50 different directions. From the top air vents back is useless.

I lied though. I actually have done a tiny little bit more on the dash but I have no photos yet so I didn't say. You can see in that picture there is a black line done with a marker along the back. I've actually cut out that warped piece. I've also reinforced the underneath with fiberglass. It's now sturdy as a rock and leaves me with a nice strong base to continue.

You're right Preen, Nothing better to do. The attached fact sheet I got was a joke too.

                    Dash repairs

Here's a few pics of my Dash repairs to date (still a way to go yet):

                    Before

After significant additions of fibreglass and epoxy filler

Still a long way to go but a lot better than when I started

Heh - I have had this issue before with noise - the best thing you can do is adhere to the rules which are in your case quite ok I feel

Wooo.. I finally get to work on this again.. A week off has been torture.

Only a small update for today.

Gave the steering rack a good tidy up and paint. I also replaced the boots and bushes. I couldn't be bothered waiting for genuine boots to come in from the UK so I made some universal ones work. They fit perfect and all 3 cost me only $20.
