Hey guys, Claire and I just bought a house last week and I'm proud to say it has a good sized garage! My friend Joe has some commercial grade painting equiptment, so as soon as we have settled in, we will start to take appart the car and prep it for a re spray. Should be pretty steady progress once we've got her in the shed

                    • I think I will stick to the same colour, but maybe put a higher gloss maybe even sparkle in it. But I will be doing some metal work first.. Get rid of any future rust issues, shave the side trim and maybe door handles.. I know some of y'all hate shaved handles, but I have always loved that smooth tidy look. Plus it's my car and I'll do what I want hahaha!

                            • yea, just a clipper kit by the looks of it george, nothing too fancy.

That ones got audi 80 handles by the look of it, real popular on mk 1's, not so much on mk 1's, but could work if you were going for that look.

personally, I jsut love the chrome!

beige is cool, nothing says retro like beige. (although i'm not sure about sparkles.. :S )

oh, and shaving the side trim, is a PITA, just so you know! haha

The wheels are actually my old ones, originally on my light blue Mk1. There are a couple of sets in Aus - mainly on E30s, but still pretty rare and a ready fit for VW with 57.1mm centres.

Ben tried to roll the guards and split all the original 2-pack paint, which was/is a real shame. Tidy this up, and you're onto a winner, as the shell is great
                                Maybe already in here somewhere......
to clear up some confusion........ This isn't actaully Bens old Mk1...Many parts off Ben's old Mk1 wen onto this car, but it actually came from NSW.
purchased by Antdragonist and taken to the goldcoast.... Then Dom (antdragonist) moved back to tas...... built by Ed.C Myself and Antdragonist.

The engine, wheels and suspension are the only parts to come out of Ben's shell.
Ben's shell was in alot better condition than this one. Not shure where his shell is now tho.
But yea....Not Ben's old car. First made its way into tas with Dom (antdragonist) then went to Hennie, now Josh has it.

when Dom first purchased it from NSW....Mk2 1.8 GTI engine on Std carby.
