A nice little car, this. Was built by a friend of mine quite some time ago (he's now into Land Rovers... must have gone insane)! The wheels are actually my old ones, originally on my light blue Mk1. There are a couple of sets in Aus - mainly on E30s, but still pretty rare and a ready fit for VW with 57.1mm centres.

Ben tried to roll the guards and split all the original 2-pack paint, which was/is a real shame. Tidy this up, and you're onto a winner, as the shell is great

Yeah, as rare as those wheels are, they're freakin ugly.

Neat car, most of the good bits too!

I don't mind the wheels, they are good. But I am thinking of replacing them anyways. First things first, I want to get rid of those plastic bumpers!!! Anyone wanna trade for some good condish chrome bumpers??

yea you've got a pretty ace base, as Valver mentioned.

I'd just get into all the small jobs, and tidy everything up. Nothing like a properly sorted mk 1. All the small details really set them apart from the rest.

That's the plan I just want it to be a great little beast inside and out. Exterior mainly finished, but a bit of work to be done on the interior! Will be playing around with parcel shelves/boot styling a bit I reckon. would do a small 4 point cage if I can find one or someone willing to make it. Will make regular updates for sure!

An absolute beauty! I like the wheels too
Can I make a suggestion towards the engine bay? Replace the Seat valve cover with a MK3 VW cover (just seems apropriate considering its in a VW)

I had never seen a more intact MK1 than when Ben first got this.
