Pretty sure it's actually a different car - had all the bits taken from that car and put on this very similar beige Mk1.

Something I did always want to do but never got around to it. It's definately a good idea.

Was really sad seeing it go but I know it's gone to a great new home and will be looked after. Have fun with it Josh, really was an incredibly fun car and I absolutely loved it!

hey all! quick update on the beast.. Replaced a faulty coil on friday, but turns out the alternator has issues also, so i amm waiting til christmas is over before i recondishion it and re charge the battery.
whilst the car is off the road, i'm going to be cracking into heaps of DIY hopefully. Including designing and building the boot area and putting an ok sound system in.

also, managed to source some chrome bumpers off a mate, so will be getting them straightened and then sand blasted/powder coated black.
i'm then gonna put silver strips through the centre where the rubber usual is, and make my own end caps with timber jig and hammering silver sheet metal to fit. i think they should look pretty sick.

then we're painting the centres of my wheels black and will try stretching some 180's over the 7" bands (not sure how much stretch we'll get though..)

Will also get a tinted visor across the top of the wind screen, some original stone gaurds and slam it as low as we can without bottoming out on my driveway..

will end up with the beige on black look.. should be pretty neat and tidy hopefully

        will post pics of progress!

        should be pretty

                    Today's update:

                    I got chrome bumpers!!
Pros- they are relatively straight, and chrome is basically perfect. And they cost me $0.00
Cons- they have bad rust on the inside, they have no end caps , the rubber strip on front bar is melted on drivers side.

                    Heres a pick!!

                          Hey all,

Managed to get the golf running again on saturday! swapped batteries to see if it were a dud battery (gremlin may flatten this battery as well - only time will tell) but for now at least it is driving and starting without any hassle!

Oh and bumpers are on.. just gotta sort something out in the way of end caps.. got a few ideas but yeah may just splash out and get OEM stuff.

Took it out to a car show on Saturday, and saw a few sick beasts. will post pics up soon.

I preferred it with plastic bumpers to be honest.

Looks pretty good, i reckon you could make it work.

Are you planning to lower it more?
