  • Wheeler Dealers Mk1 GTI

I watch this show on foxtel when ever I can and looked into if they had an episode with a golf as the project. Its a pretty entertaining backyard mechanics kinda thing if you've never heard or seen it.

If you find yourself with some spare time give this a watch..

yeah i watch old Mike and Ed when i can too. they have some good tips but its pretty simple stuff so if you're a good mechanic this will seem like playskool. but good show nonetheless, but they are dodgy gits

I'm always amazed when they pull out the can of spray paint to fix things... clearly the camera hides lots of the imperfections

From a quick squizz there is also a transporter episode and a couple of beetle ones too

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Im banned from my mums when they play the mk1 two part bit. Hate mike brewtard and the mk1 build is an ideal example,a lot of it is silly details but for the job they done with some of his hooning about its just annoying...diamond cut P-slots,gti stripes upside down, plonking his fat arse on the bonnet once the car was up for sale....just lots of annoyance .... theres an episode when he has a porsche 928 in and he swaps the 928's 16" BBS RS for a set of 15" teledials that needed a refurb plus gave the guy a hundred notes

Didn't even put the steering wheel back on straight, and they're such tight wads when buying and selling

Yeah i watch wheeler dealers whenever its on foxtel, mike annoys me a bit but he is just a typical salesman. Even though some of the fixes are cheap and nasty, i think thats the point for joe blow at home with not much cash to have a go.

"these look like thwy will be fine for another 1,000 miles... maybe more"
Surely that's well and truely into the "replace me now" schedule :S

I did notice them sitting on the car and grimaced a little.

The Audi Quattro ep was a classic.

They spent a heap of money getting the front and rear bumpers repainted professionally, then when they were done they took it for a spin round a rally track and "My mate Ed" (they must be in a relationship) hits a few tyre bundles with the freshly painted bumpers.

I don't mind Wheeler Dealers, but it's not much more than a bit of light relief.

I also understand the buying/selling is pretty much staged by the production team and many of the people used are either members of the production crew, or their friends/family.

Haven't seen the GTi one yet but have got every single episode downloaded and fire one up every now and again. Got quite misty-eyed when they did up the Audi Coupe Quattro...
There is no Golf in my life. This is unacceptable...

                              For those that missed it...

There's a lot of holes in regards to the details (eg. red stripe on bumper, complaining about how hard it is to get a rear decal for the hatch, and, of course the side stripes upside down).
