nope, not mine, mines in the mk2 section. This nuget just used up a solid month of my life peicing it together as a final push to edition38. it made it but just,
passenger door was being resprayed the morning of the event and the car was on a ramp at 6pm having a final check before its maiden run, chasing it I clocked it on the motor way using a real time sat nav doing very good speed at which point we both realised that playing with a mini cooper works had just made us go past out juntion 16 miles back,
we arrived in northampton at 2am with grins ear to ear, both cars ran without missing a beat,
VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it

I wish I had some sort of car knowledge so I could have a car like that. I'm getting an R, but these cars are the real deal.
United Grey R: All the accessories (leather, not Recaro's though), S2P paddles, Kuftech DVD in motion. Carbon grill, mirrors and diffuser awaiting to be fitted.
Can anyone tell me the paint code/vw colour name for that blue. I have a future mk1 project and its basically identical to that blue!!
Pretty sure its flipper blue.
Nice Job on the Mk1 Duby.

Thanks for the comments guys, when Reuben picked the car up 3 years ago he had a shell and 6 boxes of bits, as it stands at the moment the bumper came from Sydney, mirrors from California, original cloth from Germany.
The basic spec for now is a KR16v engine running throttle bodies on a stand alone management system, staggered BBS RS rims with stainless lips, basic interior, no rear demister, G60 front brakes with grooved and drilled disks, new headlining, carpets, everything else on the car is orig 1976 spec.
The handful of things I've learned in helping with the car is that it really does stop the traffic dead, it's silly quick (rolling road tuning produced 173bhp), impossible to stop , a mega chick magnet and that VW has managed to destroy its heritage, even in Europe parts for cars all the way up to mk3 cars are now becoming obsolete, mk3 parts are disappearing to which has made putting the blue mk1 a real uphill battle just in sourcing parts and information.
Thank god for the internet
Don't know where I'm going but I do know where I've been
Hey DUBY... you never know on the parts scene.... Almost all parts are now available (at a price) for the split Kombis, not through VW, but still, available.... Golf Mk1 parts too will no doubt become readily available aftermarket with decent build quality... Some parts of course are just that hard to find.... But that Mk1 is mint.... I'd be happy to drive that anywhere...
Too many dubs to mention.... Erika (2008 Mk5 GTi - Graphite Blue, DSG, Leather, Xenons, RNS510) Matilda (1991 Triton Flat Tray - White, 5sp Man, Vinyl Bench, Radio)
