  • Got my Golf today!! Now the work starts!!!!!!!

I received my Golf today and work will commence within the next month. I have to thank the guy I bought the car from because he gave me 2 extra front doors, 2 extra back doors, 1 extra rear window, extra dials etc. If I scratch around in the boxes I might be surprised to get a lot of other things.

I also have to say that I am lucky to have a girlfriend who likes the mk1 golf's just as much as I do and she is going to help me work and make the dream become a reality.

I will put before photo's on, during work progress and later AFTER photo's.

    GOLF MK1 RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will put some photo's on within the next week. She actually bought the car which we will rebuild. So technically speaking it is actually hers, but because I will do most of the hard work it will be seen as mine. She thinks up most of the ideas like colour schemes and interior etc, mechanicals is my side and it is going to be the best MK1 in the ACT.

We bought a new engine for the the golf today. My dad is going to help rebuild that engine, and also get the body to someone who can soda blast it and fix the two rusty patches then treat it for rust.

After all that is done, we will start putting everything together. My dad had some great ideas with the engine because he thought the golf was mine but then I told him nope, it's me missus's car.

But hey, we are going to make a mean looking MK1 and it will be know within the VW group.

I was wondering if someone out there has another MK1 for sale for a couple hundred bucks but the body must be in pretty good shape, or if someone can tell me about a website which I can go on and have a search.

Straight rust free shells are hard to find, good luck! What bits are you looking for? If its pillars and stuff, I chopped up a couple of 4 doors and used bits for my 2door project.
I'm going to the pub... I may be some time...

Well, the VR6 is actually for dad, so he can keep himself busy when he has nothing to go at home. The MK1 I am rebuilding is my girlfriends car and me and dad will just do all the mechanics and she will do all the paints etc for herself.

I might surprise you guys with this one, I haven't had time to start stripping and prepare the body for spray work because it isn't at my house, but I am trying to get it to my house ASAP so I can start all the prep work etc.

Anybody want to help, I will supply beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Body work I hate but anything mechanical I can usually bluff my way through.

Pick up my "new" MK1 tomorrow. When I get it sorted we need to get together and swap war stories.

                              Cheers
