I'm running spacers all round. It's rare for me to have a car that doesn't have spacers. I've never had an issue with them. Spacers can give some serious vibrations if they're not centred properly. As everyone has said take a few mm off the caliper if possible then I'd go spacers. Last resort gringing the wheels IMO.

I got a pair from golfman on these forums. He custom made them for me. I've bought some from peps auto spares. I've bought some from justjap.com you can get custom ones from Custom Spacers - We can make to suit your car today! I think they are SA based. They have some interesting stuff. Including stud pattern conversion stuff.

so what calipers are you running???
If you are only running standards, use deisel pads, they are 15 m/m thick as opposed to 18.5 m/m for petrols. That is, if your pads are new at present. If you have worn pads then you need to rethink the wheel situation. Guard clearance will be a problem and tyre extrusion past the guard will be a roadworthy issue with spacers....Par 6 Golf GTI.
