Might of been a factory option i know british campain golf gtis come factory with a sunroof a better quaitly one where it folds back into the cabin looks alot cleaner, that sunroof looks aftermarket to me they way its setup.

No, it's aftermarket - I had one of these on my '79 GLS.
It's got a vacuum seal around it to keep it watertight.
There should be a push valve mounted on the centre console somewhere that
uses the manifold vacuum to suck the seal down away from the glass.
You hold that down while you pull the glass back.
It's a big no-no pulling the glass back without doing that.
