All depends on personal taste i guess. Let another project begin yaaay! Once the project has begun would love to come and see it in the flesh
I prefer the skinny bumpers, but like you say it's all personal taste.

More than welcome to see it in the flesh (and give a hand!!) once i start.

In south africa they have alot of mk1 with big mk2 style "jumbo" bumpers on them. looked pretty good too. Although if you're going for a retro look its a no no.

Although i havnt seen a mk1 in aus with those style bumpers before, was that made to fit or bought ready to go for the mk1??

Not sure, I bought the car as is.

I've seen hundreds of them in South Africa with the jumbo bumpers, so I'm a bit over it - that's why I'm going fot the skinny one's.

The bumpers on Gunther have got a few cracks/scratches; easy to fix with fibreglass.

Once Gunther is "prettied" up, he can meet Betty. Good luck with the project. Will be keen to see progress!

Hahaha, exact reason im over them aswell. Have you resided in S.A or how abouts have you seen them?

As for the repair, yes, my old kit was put together by fibreglass, LOL the beauty of it when it cracks = easy fix!

Oh very retro... I do think i like, i'll have to show the photos to my Betty and see what she says..
Good luck with it - once you're in love with a MK1, no other car will ever be as good as it...
I'm going to the pub... I may be some time...

Oh i see, i lived in south africa from 4-13 and moved here roughly 3 years ago. Where abouts are you from, im from JHB

I miss a few things things there i must admit. Although im over the whole big bumper look on the CITI and LIFE etc. At the moment im in love with the small euro bumpers.

Ahh talking about your car as if it has a personality.. One of the signs of madness.. (one of many of mine!) haha.

Good on ya. They would've been the first things I'd swap out, unless it was a 90's MK1.
