Investigation into a coolant leak has revealed a slightly blown head gasket, upon consulting the brains trust out at Camden looks like we'll be opting for a 1.8 cordy motor, ideally never wanted to go about mucking round with the engine but has to be done n should make it a lil more zippy so yeah will keep y'all posted.
You'll want a passat manifold & a DGV styel weber carb, that should make a nice daily setup, with slightly better fuel econ than a DCOE style setup, although that'd probably make slightly better power (not much) and sound better.,

Abs as in 1.8 seat/cl motor,still use dgv weber with a passat mani?
bit of an update haven't posted here since the engine swap, big thanks to matt(golf loon) for doing it for me top job, after that was done i threw on the ts manifold and weber 32/36 carby. its rockin a bit more lows since gaf too and yeah let me know what you think...hoping to have my wheels of choice by chrissy
