  • so myself and the mad sicentist (al) took a better look into the damage on the mk1 last night. It turns out the passenger side chasis rail was bent downwards. After long deliberation and many trial and error experiments we decided perhaps its best just to shift all the running gear and other goodies across into a better shell. Not what i wanted to hear but hey win some lose some.

nah just kidding al now straightens chasis rails in his spare time! haha ill let the pics do the talking! al managed to design this complex apparatus to bring the old girl back to her former, proper shape.

    The mad scientist at work

After that was sorted the apron was knocked back out as good as possible, its got a fair patch of paint missing now but the bumper will cover this and might give a shot at bogging it my self.
she now rocks a rat light blue quarter panel looks ok, gonna look into getting another panel painted but cant guarantee its gonna be done by sedf. its clearly been in a knock previously, the bonnet was a **** to reallign. The quarter panel doesnt sit 100% either but again the bumper will cover most of this.

big thanks to al for sorting this monstrosity, and now the race to sedf!

    • Nice one. The more work he does for us, the more money he has to pour into that Audi!

You gave it a serious whack dude, you must have been giving it some herbs?

      • nah mick i think i took the corner at bout 40 km/h tops! but the front was kicking back and thats when it slammed into the fence/rail. i think it was just a combination of previous damage and this accident making it a tad worse. As i was saying to Al the car always looked to be sloping to the passenger side from when i got it, at first i thought it was the coil set up but obviously the rail was already bent a bit.

Yeah haha the a3 is sex on wheels!

I know Bunnings sells Bacho sets, not sure if they sell big sets like al has.
Dam good tools though for the price.

If you can't get the red, get al to hit it with some spec which will be black and a good base for any other colour and black beats another off colour panel

                          • the baby blue fender actually really suits it in a rat look vibe, getting dropped home last night there is nothing like seeing an arsed mk1 charge off up the road, seriously one of the best designed most linear cars out there.(even if its got no grill a smashed apron and mixed match panels)
