Time to devote a thread to Mk1's at full noise.

Nothing better than a caged, stripped and bucketed Mk1.

Couldn't agree more. Have to admire Valver's work, truely inspirational stuff:

couple of pics of my MK1 track car, not even close to the same league or standard as Valvers smick mk1 but it goes hard under CAMS classic homologation rulings and managed second in Targa West classic challenge where it was really driven. Yes it is a 4 door but it proved to be a god send when getting to gear in the rear as the you can get access through the cage

As nice as Valver's car is it's hardly trackcar material, I don't think it's even been driven.
                  76 MkI 3 door - daily drive/project - 1.8 5speed
                  76 MkI 3 door swallowtail - 16v track car
76 MkI 3 door "long term" project

Nice! The Brabham-Judd F2 engines. The engine to run at the time, apparently.

My uncles mate used to be heavily involved with them in their hay day. He told me (in reference to my engine actually):

Bloody strong engines. They'll rev to 9,200rpm all day. Go above that and funny things start happening.... Keep it to 9,000rpm and you'll be fine.
                          Haha. Crazy.
