Ohkie dohkie, well finally got my batts charged in the cam.

So ive been lazy with not charging the cam, and heres a few mods i did a few weeks ago.
As you guys know, my rear bumper had been smashed, so i had a spare but it was rusty, and crome faded. Knowing that the paint from a can will jsut fade, and lose colour, i decided to use my leftover carbon fibre vinyl from my bonnet, for both the front, and the rear bars. It made the car look alot cleaner too ..

I also was strolling on ebay, and saw this kit that was for sale, but a bit pricey. Basically it was made to lift up the bonnet, to give it a more agressive look, and also cool down the engine easier. So i made one myself haha

I also put in the 32/36 weber. The accelerator was the hardest bit to put in, and i was thinking about paying 30~ bucks for a universal kit, but i like the idea of DIY. So i went to the wreckers, picked up a few bits and peices from an old lazer, and a honda civic. I also know the owner of my local bmx shop, so i got a few cables etc too.

Basically, i love the idea of DIY, and here we have it..

EDIT: which indicator should i go for haha, undecided ...

What it actually looks like ...

And this, this is just for kicks

    - Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold
    - Golf mk1 Swallowtail rebuild, completely stripped

      • Hey george sweet mod with the bumper. Be careful with the hood lift though mate, you definately should think about adding those hooks which were added to later model cars to protect the driver/pass in the event of an accident. Apparently in some cases in front end impacts on early cars the bonnet was getting pushed back into and through the windscreen. Yours is almost aimed at your head buddy.

Ahhh, thats bud, i actually never thought of that at all. It makes heaps of sense, and i guess affects the structure of the bonnet, incase of impact. Cheers for that mate, however its just for fun, and i'll probs take it off and only run it for fun every now and there. None the less though, i'll have to figure something out

Heres where i got the idea from:

hmmm not sure mate I have a few (well lots) of mk1's and my 79 GLS, 80 GLD, 83 cab german cars and my 81 RABBIT all have them, and also a very early aust delivered car but i suspect these have been put on after it left the factory as the paint is slightly off so it may depend on where the cars come from and ADR at the time as they seem to be mixed around a bit here and there. I believe most 81 + cabs had them but hey I'm not 100% sure on the when they did it only the why they did it.
