you know your driving a mk1 cabby diesel when you feel elation at the top of every hill, and so does the engine.
you know you drive a mk1 when every corner is a fast one.
you know you drive an 8V mk1 (with big carb) and you spend a weekend putting a nice, high flowing, but not too loud exhaust on the car, only to drive it down the road with no-less cabin noise than before.

When no matter what you do the window winder cranks will eventually break or let you down some how.
Sick of continuously breaking the cheap Brazillian cranks, I bought a set of chrome like ones from a member here. All right, I says, these aren't gonna snap like the crappy other ones. Except the new ones are ever so slightly bigger than the bit they connect to on the actual winder mechanism in the door. So after several months of it slipping and coming loose every now and again, the teeth inside the handle have been stripped so they no longer grip. Grrrrrr.
What do others do for a sustainable crank mechanism?
PS, what's the proprer word for the 'teeth' inside the handle? I knew it then forgot. Damn brain.
Fix your windows first though, chances are they're not sliding as freely as they should and you're having to use too much effort, thus breaking the handles.
Cheers Pete. I dare say the regulators etc could do with some attention. If only I had the time to dedicate a fews hours to this. Getting the door cards off and on in one piece could be an issue.
