You know you drive a mk1 when you get a gut feeling something will go wrong shortly.. wheel falling off mid travel or something?
You know you drive a mk1 when your idea of a good saturday night is drinking beers alone in your garage fixing those little things or spending copious amounts of money on UK and German eBay... all too common for me lately

You know you drive a Mk1 when you leave in the morning with a perfectly working car come back 3 hours later with a coolant and oil leak and a radio that turns off by itself when you go over 70km/hOriginally posted by Preen59It doesn't matter what car you drive.. If you're a complete wanker.. People still won't want to talk to you..

Ha ha Jared!!!! Been there, done that.
Wait till you get on the "Fume" highway going to Sydney.
I was getting past by caravans, Kombis and buses on the hills.
Might catch up to you then, even with a 2 1/2 hour head start for you.

With a signature like that, "Attention to detail" and "racecar speciallist" didnt help??Mightnt want to promote your site with posts like that. Sounds like a very dangerous situation to me.
If the calipers were seized, then how did you manage to fit new discs? If they were very tight, why would you fit new discs without rectifying the problems first?? I wouldnt be blaming the Golf or saying its a Mk1 Golf thing!
I have NEVER seen a brake disc break on a Mk1, never. And I have been in the VW trade longer than Mk1 golfs!!!Last edited by gtimk5; 03-05-2009, 08:49 AM.Par 6 Golf GTI. Coilovers, BBS CH Wheels, APR'd

There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it
