You know you love a MK1 when you put your working and registered MK2 up for sale to buy a non working, unregistered MK1.1978 MK1 2.0 16v http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/foru...-46488-70.html

Oh the memories... Mine were just about all positive. Mine never left me stranded in the 3 years that I had it.

I've had 6 over the past 28 years and I'm buying my 7th. Not one of them has ever left me stranded. Oh sure they broke down occasionally but they were always able to be fixed and got me home. Even the one that broke it's gearbox had the sense to do it less than 100 metres from home.1978 MK1 2.0 16v http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/foru...-46488-70.html

You know you drive a mk1 when you've broken so many little things but you still love the little monster. But no really, I like to look distinguished when I step out of the car. People are like, "wonder what he does for living."
I just reply, "your daughter, sir." - some dude on stanceworks
I had fixed half the broken crap but that just meant it was still halfway inoperable

You know you drive a mk1 when it's 11:30 at night and you go down to the stable to check the horses have water then spend 30 min looking over the Golf just because you can.Last edited by sports racer; 20-01-2015, 11:46 PM.1978 MK1 2.0 16v http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/foru...-46488-70.html

They certainly are Pirellis Cinturato's (think I spelt the second part wrong). they're rare as **** and impossible to find centre caps for... I'm almost going to find a workshop that'll manufactur custom ones with VW logo's or something.. just because I think they look better with caps.

You know you drive a mk1 when the gasket kit you got for it hasn't got a snowballs chance in hell of fitting.1978 MK1 2.0 16v http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/foru...-46488-70.html
