  • Locally available mk1 panels

I am after some floor panels for my mk1 and have found some places overseas but the ones i've found don't ship according to their websites.

Anyone know of any local places that have them or other sources overseas that will ship them over here?

I know i cold find a scrapper with ok floors but I would much prefer to get new steel and be done with it.

    cheers,

I'd try to find somebody at VWA who can get into contact with VW South Africa. Mk1s are still in full production and you can essentially order any component you'd care to think of from a VW Spares division out there.

Consider using one of the shipping services. There's quite a few people offering local buying and international freight consolidation from the US now.

Here's an example. Google up some more.

If you're very, very methodical and organised you can seafreight stuff to your self from the US. There's a lot to learn and a lot of paperwork but it can be done.

I've got a shipment on the way via slow boat from the US at the moment, I went through http://www.oceanfreightusa.com/ who were very helpful. As I was actually in the US during April I was able to have everything pre-delivered to a friend and take the boxes from there directly to the shipping terminal myself. You can have goods delivered by your vendor direct to the shipping terminal too, the website above explains how to do that, just be warned though you'll need to be a good communicator to make it all work smoothly.

I would much prefer to not patch it all up, looks much better and is a lot less work. Depends how much it is going to cost to get new floor sections with shipping.

Anyone got any good floor panels?

Might cut up that 1983 Model that is rust free. It appears that it is worthless anyway. damn 2 door obsession.

Loads of stuff here, or should I say, at the Glernorchy tip!!
Some new stuff as well... Had it for years but I have been messed around with it so, to get rid of the bad memories and hassles of trying to sell it, I have just loaded it up and dumped it.
dont mention aircooler stuff. Thats yet another story!!!!

Getting back to floor panels, you guys have been chatting about them like they can be easily replaced, is it a cut-out and weld-in job?

I've got some rusty floor panels myself, would love to replace them if its not to much hassle.
