Haven't done anything paint. Not sure yet what I'll do. Maybe a can of touch up stuff?? Most of the other bits of rust aren't normally visible so I'm not to concerned about them though.
yeah good work mate, i'm so keen to get at mine atm, but i've got so many assignments to do.
what is the acid rust killer stuff you applied?
got myself some spray primer ready to go, just in need of some paint, have no idea where to get it tho lol!
shall takes some progress pics soon
I used 2 sorts - one K&H spray stuff for bigger areas, the other a brand I can't recall in a bottle which I apply with a cotton bud for small areas. Both seem pretty good - you can see the difference in minutes. But it's pretty toxic so I wear gloves when using it. Fish oil was K&H brand too.
Been a while but finally got stuck into the rust today, did a lot of work and found some nasty little bits under the chrome strips that run along under the doors.
have been using degreaser, rust dissolver, putty, spray primer and finally that paint
Anyway here's a few pics of todays work (so far) and the rust evils i discovered last night
Have some paint and hoping to get onto that 2nite or 2moro
Thats the way Micheal, getting stuck into it! It will look great when you are finished.

I hope this is not too late, but sorry to tell you these rust killer that you used are all craps. I have used them in few repairs over the ten years and I now decided to not touch them anymore, they may look impressive now but your rust will come back in 6 months.
Invest some spare $$ for POR15 and redo if you don't want to see these rust again. I spent over $250 in POR15 products in my Mk1 project for that area you probably won't need that much.

Red - That por15 stuff did look the goods, if the stuff we have both used doesn't clear up the rust will just have to try again. doesn't really worry me too much, just means i get to spend more time making it look good
Oh yeah guys & girls, make sure when you are checking for rust you look under the chrome strip, it covers all kinds of wonders lol (not always what you want to see but oh well)

Thanks for the tip.
I have used the same stuff on a nasty rust spot on my old Beetle. The spot kept getting bigger - until I put some rust killer on it. Several years later the spot hadn't increased in size. And I didn't do anything else to it. So I hope it does the same this time.
I haven't had the time lately to do anymore and it was pouring down last weekend. It needs finishing though.
Oh and I'm not sure if POR15 is even available in SA. Does anyone know?
