  • whomp whomp whomp noise

    so, driving back to work today after lunch, the front pass wheel started making a WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP noise when turning left and sometimes, going straight. CV joint or ?!

    Does it feel like a wobble sometimes Cam?

    Cause for some reason I have been getting that of late
    I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

                        also bald and/or unbalanced wheels can make that noise as well...

                          My gf had the same sound coming from the back of her honda accord.

                          It was the wheel bearing, it also didnt help that the tyres where at 56psi

                          If the bolts where loose it would be more of a BANG BANG BANG sound as the wheel slaps the hub.....i learnt that the hard way in Lesson1: Tighten your wheel bolts. And in Lesson2: i learnt what it feels like to drive a car with 3 bolts missing and the remaining bolt about to come out, like driving on sqaure wheels.

                            Ok so driving home tonight, sounds more like a knocking than a whomping, bolts are fine, tyres are very old but still have tread.

                              Check the bolt that holds the drive shaft on to the hub, the one right in the middle. Do mk1's have that? I know that made a knocking noise on my mk2 when it was loose.
