  • DIY Short Shift

Not sure if this has appeared on here yet.

The link below is an explanation on how to build a weighted short shift kit for your Mk1-3.

I purchased from a short/weighted setup from that guy. Was cheap from memory and the shifting is great.

Recommend getting the new bushings too, now its better than new.

Ok, I finally got around to doing this... and it is awesome

I did a custom job, slightly different to in the link. I just cut a piece of steel bolted it on to the throw arm (with a couple of rivets for good measure) and drilled two 8mm holes (same size as joining rod to eliminate slop), and whacked it on.

So simple, so effective.. highly recommended.

While I was under there I noticed the rubber ball on the lever (pic of new one below) had worn completely off!

If any one has a good one of these for sale PM me..
(also looking for bushing set, but will order from OS if unavailable)

Tim (golfworx) had a set of bushes made up out of brass. apparently they're highly recommended!
