I plan on keeping the hydraulic roof operation.
Wheel centre caps shouldnt be a problem around here, I have a few different ones. All good!!
And Dave, she grew up with a VW person so she knows no different!! She has been driving a couple of old Mk1s since har prang and drive the local "cruiser" around for Seafm down here but still likes her Golfs!

I love the fact that there are all these digs at Andrew about his daughter but he fails to bite, your a TANK andrew! hahaha

Was it a cocker that ate the roof?

No, I am ignoring all those comments. Put me in an earlier grave otherwise!!
No, the cockers were fantastic but passed away of old age so we had a border collie after them (very sensible clever dog) and a cross something dog as well, which is the one that did the destruction. It was a good dog mind you but a neighbour thought he saw the collie attacking his sheep and shot it so unfortunately the other dog got put down without my knowing. Very sad at the time as I love dogs. More so than VWs too!
Pity my landlord wont let me have a pet of any description.....

                Good stuff as alway's Andrew.

I'm sure with you on the look out for mk1's for your daughter, this cabby is pretty bloody good!

Why would you get another house when you have a million dollar view & a workshop to work on everything. haha

Straight swap on roof will be fine, if converting to manual from hydraulic there's a couple of things to do (nothing major). Will be back with further info on that

Here's a link which gives some pointers :

To the dizzy heights of 8 degrees C Still a few weeks off having the roof down yet
If you have a trawl round the forum there's probably a more detailed explaination (I'm looking). If I find one I'll put the link up
Looks like it might be easier to swap roof skins :

Here's the roof fitting guide :

Anyway, the dog got hungry and decided to chew up the roof!!!
Insurance job but I think it was about $3,500 fitted for Shannons!
Theres little or no wrong with the red ones roof but it would be nice to have the new one on it.
Have a look at this website:http://www.mtmfg.com/cgi-local/displaycat.cgi?cat=168
I bought the outer roof package with cables and had a local motor trimmer install it for about $1100 and he tidied up my floor carpets and re-sewed a seam on the back seat.

Products they sell look OEM and fit well.
