Good to see you making some progress on your mk1 chief!
It's a rare sight to see new standard equipment getting put back on these car's.
Also actually seeing some job's done properly like washing & cleaning all the part's while there off the car & refitting them!
Much nicer refitting nice & clean part's.
I don't know why your chasing wheel arch trim's when you want to keep it original.
IMHO I don't think a completely standard golf is worth anymore than a nicely modded one in the real world. Eg. suspension, wheel's, GTI complete brake upgrade etc.
and the doors aswell so you cant really tell which part has been painted so like if i just paint the hood it would look new and the doors look old.
do you get what im saying.??lol
also might paint the room because it has like rust dots..no big drama..
then the doors will look new too though!
Just get a really good colour match on the existing paint, and give the doors a real good polish.
Being a solid colour, and assuming you'll be using acrylic paint [are you spraying it?] it shouldn't be too hard to blend in, but not worth it imo! It'll just look bad if it's poorly blended.
The way you're going, you'll end up doing a full respray before long!

lol
my old my is painting it.
his a pro in painting. He use to do it for living..
yeh im using acrylic because i don't have enough money for some good brands
the red golf was painted in spies hecker.. thats one of the best in the world.
also
not the whole door will be painted only a bit at the start were its close to the white panels.
also there no point painting the whole car because its mint.
I sanded the hood and guard down today to get it ready for painting. I used 3m p400 sand paper..
The hood and guard had heaps of chips and i had to sand extra in those spots so it would all be smooth.
I also found some audi a3 wheels siting around my house that were bored out to 4x100
should i leave them on??
I go pictures below.
(took heaps of pictures lol)

yeh mk1s are pretty cool cars i love working on them
cheers
I hate sanding, the sound ****s me!
$1500 is a normal price for a good gun. My dad had one worth about the same, he said it still wasnt as good as the ones in the UK....both where stolen haha.
Nice to see it coming along, the Audi wheels look mint.
