a friend of mine who has had this sitting for a very long time hmmmm , what would you do with this ?????

just a quick vacuum and a spray down....it'll look like new.

is it salvagable, there appears to be a LOT of rust. i'd imagine the A Pillars, underside of bonnet and underside of roof would be growing huge amounts of rust, maybe to the point of being structurally damaged. How's the engine bay look?

The body doesn't appear to be damaged that badly, looks quite straight. If there was less rust, that would be an awesome project car. I like that kit it's got on it (picturing it painted black and dumped with a nice set of rims.....mmmmm).

well , all i know is what me mate said is that its a genman import , built on the 6/76 which is on the engine plate , but i kind of found it hard to tell as well !!! i think roccodingo knows this one ? it has all the cloth still intact on the seats and rear seats , tho the engine has been changed in the past

76 GTI should be Left Hand Drive.

We need an engine bay pic to see if it is even Kjet.

I reckon its a 1976 Aussie Built LS with a bodykit on it.

Give us more pics and / or a VIN number and we can give you the history of it.

I agree. Need engine bay pic at least.

can't say i was ever a fan of those body kits, they tend to hide a few surprises. as for the rest of the body, well looks pretty rough to me...

                          I agree loon.

The wipers are also facing the wrong direction to be a LHD too!

Proper RHD GTI's weren't available till 79, so all import's uptil then were converted.

not sure if this will help ( the pic), as he did say it was privatley imported , i will get the engine numbers so we can verify this , the plate numbers were on the drivers side , and the engine has been replaced , but i tell you its nothing much too look at when i opend the lid
