    well it seems like it doesn't let go sometimes.
    was taken by surprise actually when i first drove of, it wouldnt really go...switched to 2nd gear and thought maybe just pressing the pedal down a bit further might help...suddenly the clutch came off and i rocketed almost into another car hehehe...

    but'd be more worried about the rust then the clutch to be honest...

        Rust repairs can cost more than mechanical repairs mostly because you can't do them yourself (properly). Any rust higher than the waistline (roof, gutters, windscreen surround) can be costly to repair because it usually involves removing glass and trim in order to use an angle grinder and welder. In the case of the roof the headlining has to be removed.

        My advice would be to spend a little more and get yourself a regoed, rust free Golf and then work on the mechanicals. Plenty of guys on this forum can help with parts.

          FN is the original 1.6 engine.
          That Golf sounds like a Parts Car, spend a bit more and get a non rusty Golf. All else can be fixed.

            Come on guys! there's nothing a little tig or gas mig and a bit of fine panel work can't fix!

            But i agree... find a rustless one. Buy that one for $700 on the classifieds section!
