    I agree Velly,
16v's go very nicely in Mk1s. Must be something wrong there.
Congrats on the purchase Steve, looks like its got a good roof on it too mate.
Getting me more inspired to fix my daughters GLI.
Have lots of fun with it.

Funny that, I saw Golfworx's GX powered mk1 keep up and beat Neil's( 99GTI ) mk4 20vt vs a GX 8valve on Kjet..... power to weight is king!

A Mk1 16v goes nicely, but by no means would I say they set the World on fire Don't get me wrong, I've got one running 45s in the caddy, but more for the sound than performance

A Golf Cabriolet to me is a cruiser to pop the roof back and enjoy the sun, not to try and get any major performance out of. Need to remember, that cabriolets weigh a fair bit more than a standard Mk1 and the body flexes going around corners

did I say anything about Vr6's or F1's??!?

Steves cab, with a few mods will be a nice quick get around. I didn't say it would wipe anything, and made no comparos.

but it is fun taking a ragtop out on the track and putting bigger cars to shame.....esp when you think of the money that you spend.
