Yeah Tassie, it will be quirky all right but probably a lot more comfy than my old Kombi twincab which should be arriving in Sydney a s I write this,
It will be a fun rebuild I am sure. Be good to have 2 of these rare cars in Hobart.
Geoff, it is going to get a lot of the bits out of Gunter in it, it would make a good service vehicle as long as it wasnt cannabilised during an event to keep the rally car on the road!!
Andrew
I remember when I worked for the Education Department in Burnie, our maintenance workshop had Kombi's as their trade vehicles. Absolutely positive one of them was a twin cab tray back.
Most of the twincab utes have been affected by severe rust Steve, especially up the NW of Tassie.
Mine was a 2 owner 1969 job, totally rust free and original bodywise including the tired paintwork. The motor wasnt though, 5.5m/m over in the bores, stroked ect. Went well but was thirsty. I used to tow Gunter around to events when I first built him up. Worked out easier registering him in the end as it was so reliable.
(Hmmm, must go and ring my friend to make sure he arrived ok in Sydney in the twincab!!!!)
Andrew
I got word last night that it should be coming out of the container today and touching Aussie soil at last!!! Yay!!
I will keep you guys informed soon!
Sounds like a trip to Sydney to pick it up and a road trip back down the Hume, LHD and Californian plates and all!!! Plus a 9A in there as well I think!

Haha,
No way!!! I like my front wheel drives and its NOT getting cut up or butchered. Original Mk1s are getting hard to find these days. Low as with wheels and a 9A will do me. Low budget job here.
Andrew
awesome!
sounds like the melbie crew will be seeing you soon then!
