Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Mk1 1.8T conversion - Help and Advice

    Hi there.
I have a 76 Mk1 Swallowtail 3dr im planning on doing a 1.8T conversion on. I have a good friend who is a mechanic so prepping the shopping list for what i need to 'acquire'.

The donor car im working on will be a Polo GTI with BJX engine.

I understand i need the following:
    BJX Engine (polo GTI)
    HWY or JDB Gearbox
    ECU
    Turbo inlet manifold
    Sensors
    Throttle Pedal
    Wiring

Am i missing anything critical in this list? Any advice/guidance welcome!

    Thanks
    Paul.

Paul, looks us up at TTY Euro, got a couple of 1.8t mk1s here. I can defeat the immobiliser in the ECU and sort you a tune out for it.
