My GTI sits around the same height (with Koni adjustables & Eibach springs) & the spoiler is lower than you think. It might not look low, but trust me, it is.(Or low enough for a daily driver anyway.)
I'm still paranoid about tearing the spoiler off on a gutter & what not.
Which wheel's do you mean dubstarmk2? The ATS' or BBS'?
No ones noticed that the side stickers on the white one are upside down yet.

          Personal taste

We all tend to be victims of fashion. The car designers perceive the tastes of consumers and give them the look that they think they want. People buy the look 'cos it's fashionable. Many trends are born to satisfy N. American buyers (think of all of he horrible Volvos of the '80s and early '90s!) Concept cars test consumer interest and that's why so few of them become reality and why some of their design cues eventually find their way into production models.

As far as chrome around the windows is concerned.. I like it! But then I'm an originality freak

I like the window chrome. They don't "rust out" as they are plastic but just go crappy brown.
The white GTI has bump strips, doesn't it.
PS. When you blokes get rid of the plastic window strips, please send your old grooved rubbers to me, or PM me. Thanks, Andrew

I agree with the majority by the sound of it.
Keep it simple, stock body, lowered, tasteful period interior.
I for one love the chrome around the windows etc etc, they came from the factory with it and it's one of the the things that set old cars apart from modern cars (except for GTIs of course) If it's not a GTI why pretend?

Should look sweet, just do what you're happy with.
Or you could always jack it up and go "Baja"....

                gtimk5,
The standard GTI stripes incl. the rear hatch decal did have a textered finish.
When I brought my GTI, it came with a genuine spare decal kit.
(there were only a couple left at VW Germany when he brought it in 92')
I'm having a couple of exact copies made at the moment & they tell me that they have been able to track down the same material used with the textered finish!
I should get them at the end of the week & I'll let everyone know if there the same as the original & I'll post up some pics comparing the two.

They will probably be around $140 + postage.(Incl. all the rear hatch decal's & the two side stripes.
If any one is interested in a kit PM'd me.

Hi GTI20v. I didn't know that the side stripes were textured originally. All the GTI Mk1s I have seen have only had the textured section around the rear window and same with my old Mk2 GTI so I stand corrected!
And $140 is cheap for the set to.
                  Cheers, Andrew
