You could possibly damage the turbocharger if the tune was over the top but that's about it and as long as you don't go for an internet tune then I'd say you'd be quite safe with any of the places on here.
I must say, reading the 'injector fail' threads, it does scare the c..p out of me.
If their life span is not compromised I'll go for it at some stage fairly soon but am wary of VW's 'get out' clause if a problem cropped up with them.
    Thanks again all.

But are you looking at the more recent common rail versions or the 125 engine with the pump deuce setup which yes has had injector issues. The two are quite different and the common rail engine much less prone to those sort of probs

Just been doing a 'wiki' on VW Diesel engines jeez now I AM confused .....the 103 AND 125 seem to be co-listed ....both 16V CR bore/stroke etc. What's the difference btw it and a BKD engine? Is one a better 'project' engine and why?
Sorry for demonstration of my complete ignorance but v interested.

Yours will be a 103kW/320Nm TDI-CR [common rail, direct injection], engine code CFCH.
The latest one. No injector issues, thats the older model - the BKD (TDI-PD [pumpe-duse])

I have a TDI125 (Octy vRS TDI, engine code CEGA, the stronger version of your engine) and its supposedly pushing out 170kW/450Nm on a stage 2 tune. No issues, feels nice and strong.
Also it could be worth putting your Yeti on a dyno, when I dyno'd my vRS it was pushing out 136kW/361Nm with the stock tune
2012 Octavia vRS TDI. Darkside big turbo, 3bar tune, other stuff. 200kW/650Nm.
          1990 Mk1 Cabrio. 1.9 IDI w/ 18PSI.
          1985 Mazda T3500 adventuremobile. 1973 Superbug. 1972 Volvo 144 in poo-brown.
          Not including hers...

Thanks for that info, I didn't know just how many engine variations there were.
Trouble is I want Ozishield protection AND DNA remap so logically paint comes first then budget for tune.
            Ta again.

I still maintain that paint protection is a gimmick. My car is nearly 3yrs old and looks like it just drove off the showroom floor. Give it a claybar, polish and wax to get it looking good, then wax it 2 or 3 times a year to keep it looking good.

So you are getting clear film applied?

My bad - i assumed it was paint protection. That clear film stuff is what you are talking about then. If so, then make sure the person applying it really knows what they are doing - ive seen some dreadfull applications of that stuff. The product is only as good as the person who applied it.

Yeah, there's only one applicator listed in Melbourne AFAIK so they should be well practiced.
Wonder whether anyone on this forum has had it done.

Yep, the 3M film which I assume is like that applied to the leading edge of the rear wheel arches.

                          Similar but thinner I believe.

A few of my mates from my other forum have had it done & it works well.

There are a number of different brands available. A lot of the tint places do it as well as all the places that do vinyl wrap.

Thanks brad, I'll look into other outlets....wonder if it's the same 3M product or similar quality.....save going to Ringwood perhaps.

                              I have no idea.

I wouldn't fit anything wth the name Aussie/Ozi in it anyway. I don't trust companies that blatantly appeal to nationalistic pride like that. Strangely, if they use the word "Australian" that's OK. (yes, I agree, it isn't a logical thought process)

Oops, getting off track a bit but to continue the trend I had a very close inspection of aluminium components, paint and rubber and for the life of me you would swear this 2yr old car had just come off the production line. It must have been v expensive storage.
