Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Shouldn't have too many dramas with the clutch, Mines still got the stock clutch in it, has close to 150,000km on it and it has received a hiding almost every day.
yeh, my commute to uni barely gets the car warm so subsequently the fuel economy is pretty shocking. Yeh the clutch BETTER stay good for a while to come cos this thing is costing me a pretty penny at the moment!

Hahaha don't feel bad, I need to do my back brakes and because im doing that I want to do the 256mm or the 280mm brake upgrade. And if I am doing that I have to get my 312mm front brake upgrade on.

I have the roll cage going in shortly as well so I need to order the window netting and a few other related items (I'm not paying for the cage)

Then on the engine side of it I have the turbo to go in which means doing the clutch and the injectors and also the tune and I am flat broke after coming back from the UK. I was going to just do the brakes then do the turbo stuff later on but seeing all the oil in the intercooler piping and the busted radiator hose I thought I might as well do it now...

SO sad and yet so happy at the same time

yeh man I did my boost gauge. When I was tapping into the intake pipe, that bad boy had more oil in it than I liked to see. So I'm guessing that my intercooler is going to be full of it. Lucky I have a front mount to go on, just got to buy the piping

Yeh im in no rush to do the turbo, I'm working on the principle if it dies, I'll replace it with better stuff.

I might measure my intake manifold and see if its a PD150 style one aswell. Can you let us know the measurements of the inlet please!

Yeah no dramas I'll measure it tomorrow but I don't know if that will give you the answer, the PD100 just had the 8 port thing with the butterfly to control airflow.

Which intercooler did you get? That is the next thing I need to sort out.

I have some rear 258 GT calipers and holders about to end up in my parts collection Evaded, need discs and pads, well there's a mm or two left, but we can do some barter for sure : ). I'll also have two sets of GTI fronts.......

Awesome, will see what we can work out.

the rear brake upgrade for the Polo's is the 256mm off the 225 Audi TT.

got one off a mate of mine, PM me if you have facebook. I've got photos of it on there.

basically it has inlet and outlet on the same side, its quite thick, but not a tall or especially wide IC. We can't really have a wide IC because of the bumper mounting points. I want to modify as little as possible of the reo bar when I mount it.

I had GTI brakes for my thing, but found as you did we need the hubs. So ended up with RDA rotors and greenstuff pads. Stops hard now

and replied. I really want to fabricate my own EGR delete, but i just know that material and machining (for the flanges) will cost me as much as buying one.
