Negative. I just cut the piece of silicon hose to get as close as I could to the inlet in the grille.

Yeah, I noticed quite a difference between "as small a gap as possible", and then building a sealed to the outside lid. Massive difference after idling at the lights, which is where I noticed it the most. Seal it to the outside as much as you can mate, but yeah, it's a nice bit of kit!2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |

I've often thought it might be a bit of a 'choking' sound as the throttling flap for the EGR valve closes a bit when the accelerator is let off to start sucking exhaust into the inlet.'07 Touareg V6 TDI with air suspension

Thank you for your explanation. Seems more logical. I'll go with that.

Can't be the EGR flap Aydan, mine is hanging in the breeze, yet the noise remains, and is in fact stronger without it.
I think you can actually hear the VNT vanes "flutter" on back-off, it's amazingly apparent with my new x-force K&N "open front" pod, and you can pretty much get the typical ricer blow off valve sound between gears if you short shift. I have to say that my TDI is borderline ludicrous now and I get guys driving just in front of me looking back, for it sounds like the suction noise on mad max, but without the supercharger whine. I'll have to video it, it's a bit much really, but rather funny for a tractor! Aty least I am sure I have a low restriction inlet!
Keep up the good work FFed, you and Poyta have made me make more of an effort on the appearance front, been out with the spraypaint a little myself. Appreciate the action in the oiler section : )Last edited by Greg Roles; 18-07-2011, 05:59 PM.2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |

anyway, here I am going off topic again.... sorry.... don't take my post as inflammatory, just trying to find the real explanation for this cool noise'07 Touareg V6 TDI with air suspension

...actually good point Aydan, you're right in that it wouldn't be the VNT side of things, but I think it is the VNT vanes affecting the inlet impeller speeds, there is a definate flutter, and I can play with it to get that full F&F Paul Walker sound. I will video it for you, it's very obvious on "tinker TDI".2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |

back to the beginning, i have a tdi as well. im getting eibach sportlines, already have 18's. but am wanting to get the rears squished a little by a spring man iin newcastle. im wanting to drop them down another 10-15mm.
i understand it will reverse rake slightlyi like it
how much room is there between suspension components in the back. should i stick to 50mm?

I guess you could always just chuck them in and see how you go. Eibach Sportline and H&R Race have similar specs I believe. I'm running 235/35/19 with not too many troubles, odd little scrape here and there but nothing major.
