Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

This thread has been a thrill to read, bloody inspiring stuff and congratulations Poyta on a beautiful car.

Incidentally, are VW dealers happy to sell GT/GTI parts to a basic Golf owner, I've read stories about dealers wanting VIN numbers etc?

Dealers want VIN numbers for everything down to an oil filter - it's the way their computer system works. If you want something non-stock, it's best to walk in with part numbers

It's a manual so not susceptible to mechatronic failure.

                              Hey Poyta,

Was the steering wheel change straight forward? Are there any precautions one should take regards the air bag exchange?
