ECU Tuner _ DPF delete possibilities.

Thanks to good old Google Analytics for sending me here

First off, we don't do anything for those American Dodge beasts! We do only Euro cars

As for the DPF delete, we do it right. No more regens means no more regens. Nearly every "tuning" company will offer DPF delete and most of them are not 100% working. The main reason for this is the software that became available for the tuners that cannot tune. That software called ECUsafe does not work properly at all. There is no work for the tuner (I hate calling them "tuners") to do, they just read ECU file and upload it to ECUsafe and woohoo it comes back with DPF deleted!

How do we do it? Manually is the answer. It costs us more, took loads of time to conquer it but its completed now. I cannot speak for other tuners but we use Editing Software to manually find and delete all the DPF related maps and yes we have found and deleted the DPF regen maps that they did not really want us to find

@ JazD - I sent you that email but upon further investigating I have found that Miltek have become quite expensive for their DPF delete pipes. We normally just modify the OEM pipe as this means it will always pass any visual inspection tests.

And yes we are based in Ireland.. I am sure you Ozzies are sick looking at Irish heads by now Ireland is like a ghost country now with thousands emmigrated out to yous!

This weekend I will do my best to get a new tab typed up for my website on DPF deletes.

Thanks for the follow up, sorry I didnt get back to your email. How would we go about getting a remap done from Australia? Is there anyway we could modify the OEM pipe ourselves without having to send it over to bloody Ireland haha. Hmm maybe you need a partner in Australia. Greg?

And yes we are sick of looking at your heads.. that said 3/4 of us have been bastardised by Irish blood at some point down the line anyhow haha

They run an interface package - unit similar to what superchips do with their bluefins where you get a small hand held unit that you can download maps into, then you plug that into your port and it flashes the ECU. Quite clever because its also stores the standard settings too so you can revert back to factory ( not that you could if you no longer have a DPF )

I'm definitely interested in any working DPF delete options, especially if it doesn't require the need to ship in a whole new dump pipe like the JBS units because as far as I now the dump pipe and the freight to get it here is the most expensive part - the actual coding isn't that much.
Just need to work out how to modify the OEM pipe and get some prices from Custom Spooling for the Interface Package.

Gavin is there any way custom code can do the delete with a modified OEM pipe?

Stuff the UK customers, they don't need to pay the horrendous freight costs of getting one of those JBS pipes down to Australia!

The JBS pipe is £268.08 ~= AU$410, I dont think thats too bad, how much is the shipping? Maybe a shipping forwarder would bring the cost down.

I heard its very expensive - In fact they did a group buy here before and got them all shipped across on slow boat because the air freight was so expensive. I can't image it would cost anywhere near that much to gut the factory pipe. There are a number of motorcycle exhaust specialists that do this all the time on motorcycle mufflers. Typically they charge around $300 to do it.

We can and do have tunes for a gutted standard pipe. JBS were doing them on exchange in the early days but as the changeover costs in labour were the same for the standard and big bore pipes, the take up wasn't that good. So they stopped doing them.

The main reason for the outrageous shipping was the length of the delete pipe. At 1.2M it broke a heap of shipping cost rules.

The slow boat was a solution that I wasn't especially happy with. A better result would be a 2 piece pipe that cost 150 or less to ship.

Initially the pipe and software were $2000. Since the AUD has practically taken over the world

I can do a much better price these days.

I recently did a delete job on a Crafter, he bought a used standard pipe from the UK and went to town on it and had it welded back up. Looks stock and has all the sensor holes in the right places. Goes well too.

You could have one made in Australia, bare in mind that JBS trialled all diameter pipse from standard up to 3 inch and settled on 2.75. As James put it, they make 230hp not 500, no point going any bigger.

It wasn't quite the same part number but he took the risk and it worked out well.

He didn't have what he considered to be a risk taking exhaust shop close by, it really was the best option and if needs be it can be standardised again.

Modifying the original DPF pipe is best if you ever need to go for inspection tests. Alternatively, as mentioned, the JBS pipe sure looks like a decent piece of kit.

Recently, we just take off the DPF and gut it out.

Not sure if Gavin can do a better deal with code + pipe but if you order direct from the website like you said its $410 for the pipe then its $310 to freight it to Australia. All up $720 for the pipe landed.
