  • 06 tdi problem starting

Just wondering, only had my car 5 days, 2 day didn't want to start first go an to give it a lil throttle and when she started she was really jerky? Then same thing that afternoon. Then didn't happen thur fri or sat. and today went to start it and something again but it took 3 times to start and whe she did was really jerky and puffin alot of smoke going to take it straight back to the dealer on Monday but was wondering if any one might know what it would be? Cheers kyle

do you wait a couple of seconds when you turn the key on before cranking? Glow plugs arent instant, they do take a second.

beyond that the glowplugs (or just one or 2) might be faulty.

Could be so many things, best get to a dealer or a mate with Vag Com, look for errors and go from there. Hard to diagnose that without further investigation.

Look up the sponsor section, Jimmy can do mobile, and even with a small callout fee, dramatically cheaper than VW. Can't comment on the 103kw injectors, but they want well over a grand each for the 125kw, but that's a full swap, yours may just be a part, and being Bosch you can indeed get parts. The 125 has Siemens, and it seems no spare parts are being offered.

Weird, since they're part of the same group (like Volkswagen and Audi). Maybe the difference is they don't trust servicing when the piezo electric stack is involved.

Yeah but why not sell the complete bolt on stack when the injector body itself is generally fine??

...no, it's utter bull#$%t! You can get a serious jap half cut motor for the price of the injectors. Might have to do a fast and furious 3 if mine die!

Now THAT is a good question. It looks like it would be a straightforward job to replace once the injector was removed.

You'd have to get the loom to the injector too but I'm guessing that these are no where near as expensive as the entire injector assembly.

The loom is now obviously more heavily insulated, and I can't see that as an impossible task to get made up worst case. It's a few hundred from the dealers apparently. The whole problem is insulation breaking down due to hot oil over time in both the loom and or the pizeo component of the injectors, as far as anyone on the net can figure. Sounds likely to me.

Would you consider replaing the loom with the newer part preventative maintenance Greg?

I dread the day that I need to pay for new injectors.
