Email Notifications Failing (mostly Telstra)
Hello everyone. Seems there is an issue with Telstra (possible others) blocking email from our server. If you are trying to sign up I would suggest a different email if possible. If you're trying to reset your password and it fails please use the Contact Us page:
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.
I really don't want to sound rude, but why must we buy such new cars?
Wait a few years for all the issues to be discovered and/or fixed or buy an already proven car.
Making little engines make so much power/torque and use no fuel.....
just imagine everybody would wait a few years. Where would manufacturers store all these cars, before we buy them.
all this nonsense..... i would have thought the oldest prank in the book (sticking a banana/potato in the tailpipe of a car) and the result would be lesson 1 in automotive engineering 101.
DPF
for the benefit of us all, can everyone just try to ignore the generally harmless soot in future? DPF's are becoming a classic example of public opinion causing ridiculous engineering solutions to fit a problem that has hardly any real negative consequences. (ESPECIALLY when you consider how fuel efficient the engine could be without the darned DPF)
I do agree, mate..
I'm glad my Caddy is pre-DPF for sure.. What a wank fest..

Let the generic masses, who only buy a car on price, purchase them.
Let them own the car for a few years experiencing any problems, whilst manufacturers find solution.
When they sell in 3-5 years time to upgrade to a 'better/newer' car, any car enthusiasts can chime in and buy then.

So far the only references to the issue I have found have only been recorded by UK users. I know my dealer has sold a few diesels and there are a few on the vwwatercooled.org.au forum; but I haven't heard them raise any issues, so I am hopeful that the issue won't affect Australian delivered vehicles.
I acknowledge that there are risks in buying any new car, but those risks apply to all cars. I know people who have bought everything from base model Holdens to Porsches and had major issues. At the end of the day prior to purchasing the Polo diesel I listed a few cons, but the overwhelmingly there were a lot more ticks in the positive column when compared to other cars in the same market segment. I don't see the DPF as anymore of a long term risk than a DSG gearbox or twin-charged engine.
I would love to hear from people who have bought the car though? Is there any body out there who has had one for a couple of months who can give us some real world feedback?
I know that it is good to be aware and to know the possible faults that one may have with his/her car but don't let these to stop you from enjoying your car. Because there are thousands of the same models sold and waste majority of them will be just fine.
I know that Honda made a recall for automatic transmission (in last 2 years) where the possibility of the failure was 1 from more than 100,000 cars sold (I think it could even be 1:170,000).
^ Correct
I was surprised about the moaning an groaning on the auto express website with the TDI Polo.
Users complaining about fuel usage in the low 4-6litres/100km, which is very impressive IMHO.

VW UK wrote me and assured me no issue....full cut n paste quote...
Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding the availability of the TDI engine on the Polo. Please accept my apologies for the
delay in our response.
There are no issues with the availability of the TDI engine on the Polo and the model and engine have certainley not been
withdrawn from sale. In order to be able to investigate this matter further on your behalf, we will require some more details
from you.
I would therefore be grateful if you could please advise who has told you that the TDI engine has been withdrawn from production
and also provide a daytime contact telephone number so that I or one of my colleagues can contact you to discuss your concerns.
Thank you for contacting Volkswagen UK.
Yours sincerely
